Was the death of David Jackson an accident—or homicide? There doesn't seem to be enough pieces for the hero to complete the puzzle, and someone who can help is harboring a dark secret about the cold case. To make matters worse, a beguiling arsonist, a menacing battalion chief and a missing journal all stand in the way—or do they?

“Fully Involved” is set in Atlanta, Georgia, in the year 2009, with glimpses of the 1960’s and 80’s. The men of the Jackson family are living a proud tradition. They represent three generations of African American firefighters who proudly don their fire gear to help those who are unable to help themselves. Their love of family and career are the motivating factors in their lives.

The sudden death of David, the middle generation of the firefighting Jacksons, spins a close knit family out of control. Anger, deceit, addiction and denial are all by-products of their tragic loss.

David’s father, retired Arson Chief James Jackson, raises David’s son, Nick, in his absence. James knows more than he’s letting on. He is blackmailed into keeping quiet about his findings in the arson fire that killed his son. David’s widow and Nick’s estranged alcoholic mother, Peggy, insists something’s not right—but nobody’s listening.

Twenty-eight years of unanswered questions come into focus when newly promoted Captain Nick Jackson is assigned to the same firehouse where his father David worked as a rookie. A questionable turn of events drives Nick to get to the bottom of what really happened in the death of the father he never knew.

This fast paced page-turner grabs you and doesn’t let go as things become complicated for the Jacksons. Twists and turns abound in “Fully Involved,” as it strikes the perfect balance between danger, conflict, poignancy and humor.

ABOUT JACKSON HARRIS

I’m a retired Fire Captain from Atlanta Fire-Rescue. Twenty eight years of dedication to the fire service has prepared me to give an authentic account of what firefighters go through on a daily basis. I’ve run numerous calls out of busy firehouses and have worked diligently to achieve the position of Fire Captain, making many key observations along the way. I’ve substituted as Battalion Chief and have been the Incident Commander on several fires. This enables me to bring realistic points of view, from all levels, to my novel. I received the medal of valor in 1984, the highest honor afforded firefighters, for what they called a “daring rescue.” Like most I saw it as merely doing my job. I left my exciting career in 2008 and feel just as excited about embarking on a career in writing.

When I'm not writing or spending time with family, I mentor high school students through a fire cadet program. I'm a firm believer that all things are possible when God is in the equation.

Please feel free to email me with questions and comments. I'm also available for readings and book club discussions.
